Sloth: Packers Fans
I used to claim that Packers fans were the best in the league, both from a loyalty standpoint and from a knowledge of the game standpoint. I am starting to reconsider the latter.
There is a poll at the Green Bay Newspaper Website that asks:
Who was most responsible for the Packers 17-16 loss Sunday to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers? The current leader is Brett Favre followed closely by the coaching staff.
What are you people thinking? Yes, Brett tossed a few ill-advised passes, but he was the only functional part of the Offense. Let’s not even mention the absolutely beautiful TD pass (that even I could have caught) hitting Furgie right in stride, on a fourth down no less. Yes, the play calling was uninspired, but what choice does Coach Sherman have with the offense that is not clicking on any 2 of 8 cylinders?
Who got my vote? Ryan Longwell. Ryan gets the nod mostly by proxy because Long Snapper Rob Davis was not on the list. The missed PAT and a missed FG made all the difference, literally. The PAT snap was dismal and the FG snap was saved by the holder, Punter B.J. Sander (who is making be look silly for the calling him a “wasted pick” last year).
It is odd and gratifying that the defense was not included in the poll. They were the only bright spot, even if they wore down at the end. They are a much better group or maybe coaching staff, than I gave them credit for.
Too bad the zebras were not on the list, I would have voted for them in a heartbeat.
