Interesting on its own, but buried in the story is this little factoid:
Work on the producing ethanol from peels began in 1992, but was shelved due to the low cost of gasoline and the use of other oxygenates (such as MTBE) within gasoline.I wonder how far this research would have been today if it would not have been shelved because it wasn't "exactly right for exactly right now"... Sort of my number one reason for Ethanol booster-ism all in one tasty nugget of goodness...
