Anger: ABC (This Week)
I am traveling this weekend, so I am off my normal habits. One way this manifested itself was that I took my breakfast in a restaurant this morning (Sunday) where they had on ABC’s “This Week” on the ever-present tube.
I used to watch this show all the time when the late David Brinkley hosted it. It was one of the best of the Sunday morning political yap-fests by a large margin. Mr. Brinkley, even in the later years, was one of the best moderators around and had a very dry and sharp wit. I miss him still. Out of habit, I continued watching the show when Sam Donaldson and Cokie Roberts took over, but is quickly lost its luster. It was already off my radar when the current host (George Step-on-all-of-us) took over. I heard the news and felt vindicated in my choice to stop watching the show.
This morning I was subjected to a small part of the show. George had 2 hard-line critics of The President on the roundtable and the moderate (at best) George Will. Mr. Will had a hard time getting a word in edgewise, while the rest of the panel (the anti-Bush part) had carte blanche to slander, spin and otherwise conduct their agenda without a peep from Mr. Step-on-all-of-us. I couldn’t even figure out what the original topic was or what news story led to this “discussion”. It was all “Bush=Hitler” all the time. Why George Will continues to show up in the studio is beyond me. The level of disrespect was over the top.
I have gone to a major fan of the show, to an indifferent viewer to a mild dislike and now to active hatred.
Nice job ABC.
